Hello,
we installing Porteus Kiosk on a old PC.
At the installation we choose the Printer and made a test printig, this works fine.
After finishing the installation of Porteus Kiosk on the PC the Printer doesn't work.
The printer we use is an Kyocera FS1370 DN
For the installation we use following driver from the menu: Kyocera FS-1050 and choose the option remote printer with "lpd://ip-adress/queue"
In Cups (manage printers/status) we get following error message:
Idle - "Directory "/usr/libexec/cups/filter" has insecure permissions (040755/uid=1000/gid=1000)."
when we try to configure the printer in CUPS we are forced to login with the password. We want to use the password we created after the configuration of the printer, but we don't find a loginwindow to type in the password?
best regards
toor

Kyocera printer doesnt print.
Hello toor,
Which kiosk version is this?
'Kyocera FS-1050' is not exac match so maybe you could download PPD file from Kyocera website:
https://www.kyoceradocumentsolutions.eu ... ._.EN.html#
and customize kiosk ISO as per our documentation:
http://porteus-kiosk.org/faq.html#14
I have no hardware to test but got 'Printer is unreachable at this time ..' after setting remote printer which looks promising (no filter errors).
You can reach CUPS web interface on 'localhost:631' but mind that any changes you make there wont be persistent (ISO customization is needed).

Kyocera printer doesnt print.
The kiosk version is 4.6 and 4.7 (we tested both).
We tried to customize first (both versions 4.6 and 4.7), but this didn't work.
We use this tutorial Adding an additional printer driver (PPD and filter)
The problem is, with the FS-1050 driver we can Print the Testpage, but after the kiosk installation on the PC it didn't work.

I hope you were running all commands from this tutorial as 'root'? If not then it would explain this message:

Please contact with support@porteus-kiosk.org and provide direct SSH/VNC access to your kiosk so i could have a quick look on this.

We get this message in a normal not customized Kiosk 4.7 installation.fanthom wrote: ↑27 Jun 2018, 06:26I hope you were running all commands from this tutorial as 'root'? If not then it would explain this message:Code: Select all

We have tested with both variants, customized and standard.
Our customized Kiosk didn't work, so we have closed this case and focused on a standard kiosk 4.7 installation.
This standard installation found the printer during the configuration in the wizard and we can print the testpage.
After the configuration we install the kiosk and then we cant print with the same printer (who prints during the configuration).

As explained before - i do not have an access to your printer.
Need SSH and VNC to your kiosk in order to debug this.
