Currently being elsewhere I have a more regular internet access and can visit sites like https://windscribe.com/myaccount?hello all I want.
So I made my free account, and what does the site tell me?
Well thank you, but that praise is quite over the top…
Let's see if things concerning windscribe still works when I am back to my dirt cheap but somehow restricted internet access at home.
Added in 8 minutes 52 seconds:
Interesting what by default is blocked via their R.O.B.E.R.T and what else you can block. You only get R.O.B.E.R.T when you gave a email address that you confirmed. A throwaway email address that sends you emails for 1 or 3 days would suffice for that.
https://windscribe.com/myaccount#robert
Malware
Ads + Trackers
Unblocked was:
Social Networks
Porn
Gambling
Fake News + Clickbait
Other VPNs
Cryptominers
And the listing is how Windscribe lists the stuff, to them Malware & Ads + Trackers are the worst, next bad thing is… Social Networks
, only then Porn and only then Gambling, and then Fake News + Clickbait.

I would have put Fake News + Clickbait on 3rd and then Social Networks on 4th, but what do I know.
Added in 3 minutes 34 seconds:
And what they claim on Other VPNs sounds a bit biased.
But again, what do I know…
Added in 1 minute 38 seconds:
But I do agree on what they say on ASocial Networks
So I made my free account, and what does the site tell me?
Password Strength: Godlike

There might be some VPNs doing so, but the way they phrased it claims that all other VPNs do it like described… which In doubt. You’re using the best privacy tool out there – Windscribe. Most other VPN companies track you across the web with their ads and compromise your privacy before you even become their customer. Block them all!
But again, what do I know…

The custom access rule sounds cool if one really needs one ASocial Network only.Social networks are one of the most pervasive privacy violators out there. Much like with crack cocaine, it’s hard to go cold turkey. We’ll make it easier for you. This list will block all social networks and their associated trackers. If you must use 1 of them, you can whitelist it via a custom access rule.

This is how easy you connect to it. Some info I ***'d out. Privacy you know and all that jazz.
And asking the browser (palemoon) about my IP confirmed that indeed I "am" 185.189.***.***
Added in 6 minutes 6 seconds:
And windscribe seems to be pleasant on CPU and memory usage:

Or to me more precise:

Hi Rava,
The following error occurs:
After executing the windscribe disconnect command, I no longer have an Internet connection.
I have to restart Porteus!
Is that the same with you?
(I am using Porteus 4.0 Xfce)

I test that later since right now I need my interwebs.
But… after suspend, I could access no web pages:After I "refreshed" windscribe by simply executing as guest it gave me a new IP and then the web worked again.
And I am using Port 5.0 x86-64 rc3 though my results might differ from yours.

Just another heads up.
On very rare occasions windscribe is connecting it by itself, but often I either get the browser error as quoted above or the top error of my Interlink Mail & News reader as in the screenshot (above the red divider line):

Then, when I manually do the I get the below the red divider line pop up message as seen in the same pasted together screenshot.
Like I wrote, on rare occasions the below pop up "Windscribe connected to [whatever]" happens by itself after I return from system suspend, or after I reconnect my wired LAN, but usually that pop up not comes by itself. Then a manual windscribe connect is needed.

I just executed
Code: Select all

Kulle, what DE are you using?
Added in 6 minutes 23 seconds:
And by asking https://www.dein-ip-check.de/ it tells me my current IP locates me somewhere in the Berlin area, which is indeed correct at the moment. So obviously I am indeed disconnected from Windscribe, just like the windscribe cli told me.
Added in 2 hours 47 minutes 49 seconds:
Now that I am back from my suspend, windscribe is still out of active duty:
Code: Select all
guest@porteus:~$ windscribe status
windscribe -- pid: 2997, status: running, uptime: 1d 4h 24m, %cpu: 0.0, %mem: 0.7
IP: *.*.*.*
DISCONNECTED

Now I will switch windscribe on again, not that I really need it, just for testing purposes.

Added in 4 minutes 23 seconds:
And now again logged into windscribe (windscribe login) and connected via VPN (windscribe connect) and still all works well.

Cheers!

Since I am back home in the Southern region… having a bit of free time, trying windscribe. Seems my internet at home refuses to work with windscribe, though.
I use [ quote ] instead of [ code ] since then I can colour the red lines red as in my terminal (and the green ones green).
No internet was working while in that state, not wget nor Palemoon could connect to any site. Therefore…

Hi Guys,
10 GB for one month is quite less, right?
Have you tried protonvpn, is it good?
It is free and with a valid email you get unlimited access, but no torrenting sorry!

Hi Kulle,
Good Windscribe seems to allow torrent.
Currently my ISP is not blocking torrnt, but 10 GB for a month in Windscribe is still much less.
