Porteus without sound [SOLVED]

On the old Compaq-6720s notebook: Porteus without sound !

I tried Porteus 4.0
Startup very very slowly! Porteus works, but no sound.

I tried Porteus 3.2.2
Startup much faster, no sound either.

That's why I tried Knoppix 7.6
Knoppix works with sound.

Is firmware missing in Porteus?

or check porteus-settings-centre> info .. i think there's a section for audio hardware in there...
