Playing DVD on VLC - A FAILURE
I really didn't want to have to do a post on this, but I can't seem to get DVDs to play on Porteus. I tried all the video players (though I'd prefer to solve this on VLC). VLC closes after attempting to read the data, smplayer and gnome mpv will read it if you drag video_ts into it, but it is horribly choppy. I have two PC's that contain dvd drives, so this isn't a machine specific issue as the problem persists on both. Opening in the file manager shows the files perfectly like a normal functioning disc. Is there anything that can be done to fix this? Scouring forums about this drudges up everything except just simply getting a player to read the dvd properly...

Re: Playing DVD on VLC - A FAILURE
We have seen DVD problems after a VLC upgrade.
Try removing ~/.config/vlc/vlcrc.

Try removing ~/.config/vlc/vlcrc.

Hi LDRCII
I can't help with VLC, but you could try this player - (if you like):
https://filehorst.de/d/chqdnynv
Assembled to work with port 4.0-x86_64-KDE - (tested in AF mode - works..)
(other DEs may not need some of the files i had to integrate into this module)
The player is only 1.4 MB in size and plays DVDs (and other media files) just fine.
(most but not all DVD menus are working too)
Go to preferences first and choose a video output - xv should do
as usual
The File is on a german hosting service so please do as follows to get it.
Wait 15 sec > click "Jetzt zur Download-Seite" (means go to download page) >
click "Klicke hier, um ihn zu starten" (means click to start the download).
btw
You may also need the libdvdcss-1.4.0-x86_64-2_slonly if the DVDs are css encrypted.
