Is there a recent Samba server for Porteus?
I'm having issues with my really old version (3.2.13), converted from my early beginnings with slax. So I thought it's time for an upgrade. Admittedly I'm not really aware of the state-of-the-art ways to grab software for Porteus, this topic is confusing me.
I tried to compile samba 3.6.0 from official source by myself and package it by hand, like I've done for various other modules in the past. But the result is unstable, so I'm looking if there might be a canned solution.

hi [IDC]Dragon,
as beny said (i'm going to write the same but with more details):
a) download slackware package:
http://slackware.cs.utah.edu/pub/slackw ... k13.37.txz
b) convert to xzm with CLI txz2xzm utility
c) activate
d) done

Re: recent samba server, anybody?
Thank you, especially fanthom for detailled instructions (I needed such). Plus it was telling me where to look in future.
Now I'm running said version 3.5.10, let's see how it behaves in the long run.
Semi-solved for not being 3.6.0, which supports SMB2 and is said to be faster because of a new async architecture. ;-)

Re: [Semi-Solved] recent samba server, anybody?
@beny:
I have downloaded your module and converted it into a .xzm, but admit I haven't tested it yet. My server was stable with the slackware version, no real pressure.
@all:
Instead I found that meanwhile samba version 3.6.1 got released. I compiled and wrapped that one, and it's also behaving well. So instead of taking I can now offer you that, here it is:

(who seems to turn into a version junkie)
