Installing LibreOffice USM Fatal error LIBS.TXT
Hi all
First off, this is a great OS. So fast. Works on all my computers.
I've installed quite a few programs but am stuck on Libre Office.
It has a lot of dependencies and I think this might be the reason I get the Fatal error; can't find LIBS.TXT.
Of course I updated and restarted USM first.
I can download the main Libre Office file without the dependencies.
Any help appreciated.

Re: Installing LibreOffice USM Fatal error LIBS.TXT
Thanks Blaze but that is too complicated for me.
I tried installing from a terminal using update-libreoffice after creating a save.dat file of 1GB (on a FAT32 USB stick 32CG).
This downloads the latest libre office and starts installing it halts due to insufficient memory.
Also, I have to update USM every time I use it. Is this normal?

Did you download the .xzm file noted here: Libreoffice 6.1.x - fails to start Draw, Impress due to new Avahi dependency
Once downloaded Activate it, in the Porteus menu you will see Office as an option.
Just noticed your distribution says you have an i586 system. That download is for an x86_64 system.
Updating USM or anything else is normal if you are not saving your changes. You said you created a huge savedat file, did you edit porteus.cfg file to use it?

Re: Installing LibreOffice USM Fatal error LIBS.TXT [SOLVED]
Yes I edited the .cfg file.
Is there a libreoffice .xzm file for i586? OK found it.
I have Firefox installed but it won't open most porteus website pages.
I'll try installing the new .xzm file.
Update: That did the trick. You can tell I'm a complete novice.
Update: Installed Opera to get access to porteus website.
The reason I installed i586 instead of the latest porteus is so that I can run it on older computers I come across in my travels.
btw I'm not sure my porteussave.dat file is working. Is there a way to test if my settings are being saved?

Re: Installing LibreOffice USM Fatal error LIBS.TXT
I've just tried using USM to download Skype and its dependencies.
It did this but shuddered to a halt.
It's a memory problem.
How can I increase the working memory?
I run it using RAM on a fast big laptop.
When it starts up, it says something like "changes cheatcode not found, using memory only".
I changed the porteus.cfg file though to point to porteussave.dat
I mounted the porteussave.dat file and found it to be empty.
Nothing is being saved.

Post the output of free -m and the line(s) you changed in porteus.cfg.

Re: Installing LibreOffice USM Fatal error LIBS.TXT
OMG I've just discovered what I'm doing wrong.
I was starting in RAM mode because the instructions say it is much faster.
Quite the opposite in my case.
I started in Graphic mode and it started much faster, runs faster and saves my data.
Sorry to waste your time.
The only thing I can't get to work is Skype, but I think that is because I'm running on i586 and I get the error:
skype: error while loading shared libraries: libQtDBus.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Thanks for creating this brilliant portable OS. Beats the rest hands down.
