Hi guys!
I tried libreoffice 6.1.2 and 6.1.3 (alien repo -
http://www.slackware.com/~alien/slackbu ... 4/current/ ) with boost-1.68.0-x86_64-2.xzm (only Alien Bob builds of LibreOffice requires boost). LO does not save documents to .doc or .docx formats. I have this error: Write error. Unable to write file.

If you like to test it
libreoffice-6.1.3.2-x86_64-ru-5.0.xzm (Alien build)
If I use LO from official website
https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/ (LibreOffice as rpm packages from official web site does not require boost dep) - I can't able to run
libreoffice6.1 --impress but I can save .doc or .docx formats in the official LO
The same story for the libreoffice 6.1.4 - I can't able to run
but I can save .doc or .docx formats in the official LO.
I uploaded official LO for testing for you
libreoffice-6.1.4-x86_64-ru-5.0.xzm
Please run
and report about success or fail.
Thanks.

Is there a way to get LO running and working without and java?
Cause java still has tons of unsolved security issues…
Cheers!

I everytime run LO without java. Java seems need only for database.
I tried with jdk-8u162-x86_64-2gds.xzm and of course I don't have this message
Code: Select all
javaldx: Could not find a Java Runtime Environment!
Warning: failed to read path from javaldx
but I can't able to run sh /opt/libreoffice6.1/program/simpress - because nothing happens, but if look at ps aux I see these processes
Code: Select all
guest 5643 0.2 0.0 111752 5892 pts/1 Sl+ 19:58 0:00 /opt/libreoffice6.1/program/oosplash --impress
guest 5656 1.0 0.5 778980 97808 pts/1 Sl+ 19:58 0:00 /opt/libreoffice6.1/program/soffice.bin --impress --splash-pipe=5
I will try to build LO in Porteus via SBo when I found some free time.

So you are saying there is not a single known security issue with java left unfixed?

That is the wrong approach. But lets ask some experts on IT security shall we, e.g. this hit for java security issue:
https://heimdalsecurity.com/blog/java-b ... -computer/
Why Java Vulnerabilities Are One of Your Biggest Security Problems
This software used by millions is one of the key targets for cyber criminals
Emphasis by me.
https://www.pcworld.com/article/2030778 ... -soon.html
Why resolve security issues? Why did the Linux community solve the silly bash bugs in the last few years when according to you, every OS has security issues and especially java (and MS Windoze) are among the programs / OS that took their longest time to solve security issues. Some issues are not fixed after being known for years.
Cheers!

If you think Linux is safe then there is no need for these Linux scanners you requested.
Vulnerability scanners
I like this woman's 3 1/2 yr old blog opinion.
And, it has been 5 1/2 yrs since this was published.
The point being OSs and apps have faults. Always have always will, and Java is no different that any others, it has bugs and it issues fixes for them so no need to ban the app frivolously. For a list of fixes check this link:

Vulnerability scanners
You realize that using some of these scanners is not solely done to test your own system but to test other e.g. clients system using your (=e.g. Porteus Linux) system as host system running these scanners.
Also, please look in which sub-forum I posted that, it was deliberately NOT posted in "modules request" sub-forum but in…
Intermediate/Advanced User Questions
Did you miss that on purpose? Or why do you call my questions a "request for (someone else making a module)" when it was never about that?
Do I have to explain to you the difference between
requesting a module and
asking which scanners should be included in a module I plan to do
when I have still the time (and when brokenman wrote his "wishlist" for scanners to be included) cause you seem not to get the very vast difference by yourself.
Cheers!
