Hi,
I just started using Porteus, and only have a little prior Linux experience. I'm getting an error message saying "Filesystem root" has low disk space, but the USB it's running on has about 6GB free. Why is this happening, and is there any way to expand that?
Thanks.

It sounds like your system is running totally in RAM.
Are you running as root? Is the USB's file system FAT32? Are you using a changes= cheatcode?
And welcome to Linux. This is a good place to learn. I was new when I started also.

Thanks for your response.
I'm using a FAT32 file system with a dat file. It just struck me that when I set it up, I left it at default size of 512 MB. That's probably the cap I'm running into. Is there a way to expand that, or should I just create a new one?

The dat file can be expanded. Go to Menu > Admin > Porteus Save file Manager and you will see an option to expand it.
The dat file grows as you use it over time and not everything needs to be saved in it. Many of the files I download I save directly to the drive Porteus is on which keeps them out of the dat file.
It is a good idea to check the dat file's space usage from time to time.

Re: Low Disk Space on "Filesystem root"
We try to keep unnecessary cache files and folders out of the save dat file, but it is not possible to know about all any every program that is able to run with Porteus.
Cheers!
