Hi
In the last few days I've been able to get Porteus 3.1 running on an old EeePC 701 with a 3.9GB SSD. It does well. I've successfully got LibreOffice working and Printing (first time ever on Linux), so I'm pretty pleased so far.
I have tried WINE to run a windows app called RMS Express, but no luck so far. with that app, while WINE does seem to load up for basic stuff quite well.
I would like to run over-the-air ham apps like FLdigi that use software modems like SoundModem and DireWolf. The challenge is that I do not know how to get them into this load of Porteus. These are Debian packages accessible with apt-get, but that doesn't seem to exist. USM is good for lots of stuff, but I don't seem to be able to find how to add new repositories so I can pull them down.
Any hints or ideas on how to access other repositories to access these needed utilities/programs? Once downloaded with all dependencies, I can build a XZM file and I'll be off to the races.
Thanks, Don
PS: I am pretty impressed with Porteus 3.1 so far. Sadly the 32-bit version is all that is usable on my netbook (Celeron), so I cannot go to 4.0.

Thanks! I'll give er a blast.
Have been preoccupied trying to get 3.2.2 to install and run on my Celeron M machine, but that seems like something that isn't going to be successful or reliable. I may have to fall back to 3.1.
The machine fails to login once I get a few xzm files in the modules directory (like LibreOffice, etc). I suspect that I am running out of memory (no swap file) or I am loading too much, so will try giving it 1/3rd of my SSD for swap space to see if that helps.

BTW - using the path for fldigi download, I was able to go higher in the ftp path and find soundmodem and direwolf txz files to convert and use. Thanks!
