Permission problems

Post#1 by H3llGhost » 22 Aug 2011, 12:17

Hello,

I am surprised that I have very restricted permissions in that forum.
After the registration I got an email with the activation link which I used and I got the message The user is already activated, okay ... that can happen sometimes.
Than I want to view a profile of an user, links aren't shown for me ... mmh ... Let's try another way use the direct address to an user profile, permission denied.

Perhaps new user haven't the permission to do that. I searched a little bit in the forum and couldn't find any answer.

Oh there is an area for other languages. For adding a new language pm the admin.
No problem, but wait, I can't show an user profile. Perhaps I can write directly a pm. You can guess what happened: We are sorry, but you are not authorised to use this feature. You may have just registered here and may need to participate more to be able to use this feature.

It seems that there is something wrong or I have a different opinion of using a forum.

Please tell me, what is right and what is wrong. :)

After the registration I got an email with the activation link which I used and I got the message The user is already activated, okay ... that can happen sometimes.
just registered a new user to verify this and i didn't get any confirmation email yet.... will check this later.

you need to post 10 times to have full user rights

same as above

forum restrictions are pretty high here but it let us avoid spamming - which is a good thing.

EDIT:\\
confirmed - activation of new members works fine.
Please add [Solved] to your thread title if the solution was found.

That is normal.

You need to have a minimum of 10 posts to use all features of this forum.
When you will have 10 posts, you will be "fully registred".
This restriction has been taken to avoid any abuse on the forum.

EDIT:// fanthom is too fast!!

You have problems with spamming?
I haven't experienced it yet with all forums I worked for.

But thanks for the information.

@Hamza:
Yes he was fast. :P
But thanks for your efforts. :)

You won't see a lot of spamming as a normal user. We typically squash it pretty quick and delete it from the board.

Where's a smiley for "knock on wood"?
Please take a look at our online documentation, here. Suggestions are welcome!

@Ahau:
I hope that it is so, otherwise it could be felt annoying by other users.
I hadn't any problems with spam in my own or community forums, so I am surprised.

@francois:
I hope so. :P
I am right, that you are the francois from slax.org?

There are some similarities. :D

Preventing, that this topic will become a spam thread, I should ask something. ^^
Is there no option for stay logged in?
It is annoying to log in every time, when I start my browser and restore the last session.
Although if you are chatting here and are disconnected caused of the logout after a short time.

No.
Reason : If you are not active, then the system will disconnect you.

You can save your details in the browser,like with Firefox does. NOT RECOMMENDED

Why do you say it is not recommended? :D
It is only a forum, so there is no security problem, if anyone would get my password. :P

That is not recommended, because, if an attacker to take the control of your computer. He can save all your passwords too.
And, if you don't save your passwords, you can be sure that anyone can take the control of your account from your data's computer.
I have only suggested this.

You are free to do what you want. That is Linux !! Freedom ! :P

Cheers

Yeah I know what you mean. :)
For that scenario I have a lot of different passwords.

But I think we shouldn't stop here to prevent that the topic will become too much off-topic.
