Hi,
I had used Porteus few months ago (forgot the version but it was MATE desktop) on my USB flshdisk and I was really impressed. I managed to download the Porteus using the build page. But I lost my USB flashdisk so I haven't used Porteus for a time. Lately, I tried to download Porteus and found out that Porteus discontinued their build page... I mean, why? It was so cool and very convenient for novices like me installing Porteus to USB directly from the net. So why was it discontinued?
Any I downloaded the recent version 3.2.2 (Cinnamon desktop) installing as Live USB using USB Installer. When I booted Porteus it said something like: it cannot boot because the kernel is for x86 and 64, it detected my hardware as i686 and suggested to get the appropriate kernel for it.
I couldn't understand because I have a 32-bit UBUNTU Mate and 32-bit Windows 7 Home Premium in my HDD on my HP Mini 210 4000 laptop. I tried locating i686 iso from one of Porteus' mirror site and I could only find iso i586 no i686.
Any help will be greatly appreciated guys. More power to ya all.

Re: Questions on Porteus installer
You need to install the i586 version, that is the 32 bit one. The 64 bit one is often called x86-64 when it comes to Linux, be it Linux OS or Linux software.
Both i586 and i686 are both 32 bit versions.
HTH!
