please help
i have managed to install firefox 45.4.0 esr
which is without the normal flash player plugin
and apparently the normal flash player plugin
does not appear in the normal firefox plugins list
when searched for
so i followed the link to install flash player
from a bbc news article
and it came to this webpage
https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
which offers flash player for linux
in these forms
yum
.tar.gz
.rpm
APT
i can guess that i could accept
the .tar.gz or the .rpm
but i do not know what to do with it
please help
i need the flash player
to view some animated bbc news articles
in the bbc news website
i can understand
is the idea that the flash player is being phased out ?

hi micheal, now that you're using 3.2x,. there are 'update-' scripts for some things..
so, in a terminal, type:
and this will download and create a module for the latest flash player plugin for firefox..
you can also get the latest beta firefox, and chrome(not for 32bit), opera, palemoon, and more using these scripts..
also by using the update-firefox script you help porteus by having a custom duckduckgo searchplugin installed that provides income to porteus..
so, in a terminal, type:
Code: Select all
update-flash

quite the opposite, in fact, adobe is actually reintroducing support for linux flashplayer...michael wrote:is the idea that the flash player is being phased out ?

Thanks Blaze I was going to post it.
I just like Slackware because I think it teach you about Linux to build packages where Ubuntu is like Windows you just install programs you want.

hi
thank you for your replies
yes
i have just tried accessing flash through usm
and i chose
flash-plugin-11.2.202.635-i686
(my computer architecture is i686
i have checked this)
it came in as a txz file and an xzm module
so i put the module in
/porteus/modules/
alongside my xzm module for
mozilla-firefox-45.4.0esr-i686-1gv
i have restarted my computer
and the modules have loaded
but i don't understand
how flash then links in with firefox ?

Try this link.
EDIT:
Put "flashplayer-plugin-23.0.0.162-i586-1" in your porteus/modules on your USB then reboot.
