Yes it is certainly possible but we would need a dedicated machine just for this.
The kernel needs to have an FPU emulator. The Linux kernel configuration, patch and the source code of the Linux starter (kind of BIOS) are available: http://bellard.org/jslinux/linuxstart-20110526.tar.gz if anyone wants to research further.
I don't think it would handle an X session and there is nothing exciting to be seen from text mode.
