Been using
Code: Select all
root@porteus:/home/guest# alsactl restore
alsactl: set_control:1461: Cannot write control '2:0:0:Independent HP:0' : Device or resource busy
checking if audio available before playing video. (asound.state coming from saved 3.1) In above case normally have to quit browser. Then
Code: Select all
root@porteus:/home/guest# alsactl restore
root@porteus:/home/guest# alsamixer
ALSA lib control.c:843:(snd_ctl_open_conf) Invalid type for CTL default definition
cannot open mixer: Invalid argument
shows audio free. And trying alsamixer shows issue.

A
@alexgorr, @brokenman
1) With the solution of Jay, the issue alsamixer should be considered as solved.
2) Anyway I observed, the version I have was compiled/modified by fanthom; it has his suffix ftm. Maybe Tom did it so that the user does not have to add the arguments -c 0 or -c 1. I guess he could hack this new version to get the same effect of not having to type the arguments by every call....
Regards

Porteus is proud of the FASTEST KDE ever made.....(take akonadi, nepomuk and soprano out and you will have a decent OS).

The issue comes from pulse now handling sound and /etc/asound.conf points to pulse. If you redo asound.conf pointing to your sound card (perhaps using the sound settings in porteus settings centre) then alsamixer should work ok.

Cinnamon 64bit
I just rebooted and the nice picture is gone and a blue screen.
I just like Slackware because I think it teach you about Linux to build packages where Ubuntu is like Windows you just install programs you want.

Please try to be more thorough in reports Jack. That information doesn't give me much to go off. I really need to know what you were doing before it happened. Were you saving changes. Did you use firefox.
From what I can gather this occurs after one has been using firefox for some time. I can't reproduce it here.

When that happen I power down or turn off the computer. When I turn the computer back on then I seen the blue screen. I formated the USB with ext4 and when I power off it save all setting in the change directory in the porteus directory on the USB. So all I did is turn off and later back on.

Thanks. I've noticed when I have firefox running and a video then simply scrolling firefox pushes the xorg process up to 70-80%. It's chewing the CPU like candy.
Can you please show me the output (while firefox is activated) of: ls -la /home/guest
