Dell Inspiron 1525 (Bluetooth card)
I'm able to put a bluetooth card in the Dell laptop I have. The model is DELL Truemobile 360 Bluetooth Card. My question is will it work or supported with Porteus?

I just like Slackware because I think it teach you about Linux to build packages where Ubuntu is like Windows you just install programs you want.

Re: Bluetooth card
I have a bluetooth USB dongle that works in rc3. Don't see why a card should not work.
How do i become super user?

Re: Bluetooth card
Thanks brokenman
I watch a youtube video on bluetooth for my laptop. So I did what the video said I open up my laptop and look for the cable and it was there and I found the bluetooth card on eBay that was in the video. That is why I'm asking question about it.

@jack
1- The bluetooth sign shows in the panel,
2- Clicking it asks for a new device
3- You can try to connect your mobile phone,
4- If it connects you can transfer photos, videos, etc.
I have an USB Bluetooth adapter and it works ok, a Bluetooth card should do the same, I guess...
Good luck!

Re: Dell Inspiron 1525 (Bluetooth card)
Can someone please make a short tutorial on how to connect a bluetooth device using blueman?
Jack first try opening a root console and entering:
Now in the System menu at the top try to select the bluetooth manager. Choose the enable bluetooth and a manager GUI shoudl open. From there you can add your device. I have not tested it thoroughly as yet.

Re: Dell Inspiron 1525 (Bluetooth card)
Start it from a terminal: blueman-manager
Post the output.
It is most probably closing due to some missing python files. Next version will fix that.

My rc.local says:
As you see, the last block is dedicated to bluetooth..
You can put a similar file in /rootcopy/etc/rc.d or make a module of it and put it in "modules" (loads faster!).
Regards!
My rc.local says:
Code: Select all
#!/bin/sh
#
# /etc/rc.d/rc.local: Local system initialization script.
#
# Put any local startup commands in here. Also, if you have
# anything that needs to be run at shutdown time you can
# make an /etc/rc.d/rc.local_shutdown script and put those
# commands in there.
#
# install swapfile in harddisk if previously configured
if [ -a /mnt/sda1/swapfile.porteus ]; then
echo "installing existing swapfile to hardisk sda1..."
swapon /mnt/sda1/swapfile.porteus
fi
#
# create shared memory folder in /dev
[ -a /dev/shm ] || mkdir -m 1777 /dev/shm
#
# Start the SSH daemon:
if [ -a /etc/rc.d/rc.sshd ]; then
echo "starting ssh daemon..."
chmod +x /etc/rc.d/rc.sshd
sleep 0.5
/etc/rc.d/rc.sshd start
fi
#
# Start the Samba Server with minimal smb.conf
if [ -a /etc/rc.d/rc.samba ]; then
echo "starting samba server..."
cp /etc/samba/smb.conf-sample /etc/samba/smb.conf
chmod +x /etc/rc.d/rc.samba
/etc/rc.d/rc.samba start
fi
#
# Start the bluetooth daemon in background
if [ -a /etc/rc.d/rc.bluetooth ]; then
echo "starting bluetooth daemon..."
/etc/rc.d/rc.bluetooth start

Re: Dell Inspiron 1525 (Bluetooth card)
Please look in the testing folder on the server. There are some modules in the rc4 folder which are up to date. Be aware that you will need to boot into runlevel 3 (text mode) then log in as root and run:
Check if the bluetooth works after replacing your existing modules with the ones in the testing folder: http://dl.porteus.org/x86_64/testing/
Code: Select all
cache-module
