hmmmm I wonder what happened 4 months ago that could have changed how the forum works now. Sounds like the new way is turning some people off. Maybe an Admin wrote new Forum rules to shake things up. Hopefully francois will post a link to them. A forum without happy and active members usually doesn't last long.

There are reasons why people's posts or threads are deleted.

Writing without abbreviations is not a valid reason so relax.

Going offtopic is a reason but how far you drift off is looked at in context.

If anyone feels they have had a post deleted by me then do a pm to another moderator. Or vice versa.

For some funny reason the German wikipedia entry had a better explanation why in the past with hand written letters a PS or postscriptum was important, more so than today with digital communications or text editors in abundance. Therefore let me translate it:

Purpose
The postscript dates back to the time of letters, when everything was written by hand. It had the advantage that by forgetting an important part, you did not have to write everything again, but could simply attach it. In the age of e-mail communication, however, it is mainly used to attach a message that has nothing directly to do with the actual subject and is of a rather incidental nature.
