I am really a newcomer to hardware and software concerning music on linux boxes. Looking at jack connection kit, and reading about it, I did not get exactly to what it does additionally to the basic alsa configuration of porteus. So your explanations are welcome.

Meanwhile, I got this interesting and well written article by alienbob which uses jack with simplescreenrecorder to record the audio of its computer:
