No Sound on e-450 Apu

I am using Porteus 3.0 xfce on vaio laptop with e-450 APU,
the problem is no audio, there is no sound icon in the panel.
i tried alsamixer, it shows nothing pressed f6 then it shows a
0 hd-audio generic
1 hda ATI SB
when i select 1 then it shows Master and other volume settings, but is unable to set them.
as i close it it returns to default sound selection.

i checked out asound under /etc/asound but there is no file named such..

Now What must i do to fix this.

Used a text editor to create "/etc/asound.conf" and put these two lines in it:
defaults.pcm.card 1
defaults.ctl.card 1
