Would it need any missing QT dependencies when running it on XFCe Porteus? If no, I would give it a try... especially since you want it as x86-64 version.
If it needs QT dependencies I would still try to compile it for you, but then it might take longer. Sorry but RL is having a high time toll on me. </digress>

Re: Krita (Qt centric Gimp alternative)
I looked at https://krita.org/download/krita-desktop/ and they mention KDE a lot, so, most probably Krita will need some KDE dependencies, with makes it... less interesting for a non KDE GUI Linux...

Obviously...beny wrote:hi krita need the kde environment to work..
Now, I never approached that before, but how difficult is it to change from the source code, a program like that, remove its KDE dependencies to make it better / more slim for users of XFCe / LX?? ?
Me presumes that's at least 30% of code-re-writing, or such aka not possible for me.

Cheers!

Re: Krita (Qt centric Gimp alternative)
de-kde ing krita would be nigh impossible i suspect
Krita is a part of the Calligra (office suite)package in slackware,
some other distros split Calligra into parts.. which require calligra libs, kdebase-runtime etc
krita is by far the biggest part of calligra btw (freakin huge}
bear in mind all this is going to transition to qt5 and frameworks etc in the future
which 'may' make it simpler,,

Maybe then I have some .... fun trying my de-KDE-ing it with a rc or alpha version of qt5 based Krita....ncmprhnsbl wrote:bear in mind all this is going to transition to qt5 and frameworks etc in the future

darn.... and it looked so neat. Me thinks I need to look for other GIMP / painting program alternatives. I love my GIMP, but it is huge.
And mtPaint is often sucky, like, I not even know how to fill the background and make the transition border to the painted parts so that it gets smoothly filled, cause I have no idea where mtPaint does have the settings for that. I know how to make it with Gimp...
Still, easy manips and such, are often quicker done with mtPaint since it has a more slim surface and is also quicker to load.

Cheers!

Re: Krita (Qt centric Gimp alternative)
the main advantage the krita has at the moment is cmyk? colour support for printing... not essential for the average user..
as for light weight , check out AZpainter..
