Re: HP Printer
They seem to be from the information in the table.
Searching for these printers models, here is a message that I found stating that they are covered with hp-lip ver 3.15.6
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/release_notes.html
Porteus has ver. 3.13.11:
Accordingly I do not find them in print settings (or system-config-printer utility).
It seems that presently slackware is stuck with 3.13, but for 3.15 there is a hplip package from slackel on pkgs.org.

Re: HP Printer
Will Porteus support it anytime soon? It will be hard to find a new printer with what is supported by Slackware now. So if anyone know a HP printer model that is supported with current version please tell me.

"Will Porteus support it anytime soon?"
we do not maintain hplip package so it must be either bumped by Pat in slackware-current or someone from the community must create xzm with latest hplip for you.

Re: HP Printer
Let me understand this Porteus has ver. 3.13.11 support. Will it still support all the older version HP Printer the same way?
I think I found one http://www.walmart.com/ip/HP-Deskjet-25 ... r/31719885 it's version is hplip 2.13.8.

Re: HP Printer
Printer wise, I have been for years a hp printer owner. I shifted for brother some five years ago. I get a lot more satisfaction for less money. These printer are fast. I own a laser printer. The canon color laser printer does a really good job too. I have one too. Both work on porteus.
See laser color printer (this thread is not only about color photographs):

Re: HP Printer
I live in a small town and there a few store that sell ink and it HP ink. That why I pick HP printer. I would like to get a Laser printer but I don't have the $$$ to buy one up front. Beside I don't print picture's and I don't print that much anyway just if I need to. That why I pick a cheap printer to buy. My last printer lasted about 25 years.

Re: HP Printer
Brother black and white laser printer is 100$ canadian. Difficult to find cheaper. Especially if you count savings on ink cartridges. Toner is a lot cheaper for printing.
I imagine that you can buy it on the net. Over a certain amount the shipping is free.

Re: HP Printer
What model is it? And dose Porteus support it? Walmart sell a Brother but not sure of the model. Will it print 500 pages on 1 toner or how many pages?

Then this one.

Is any of these supported by Porteus?

Re: HP Printer
You will be able to intall any of these three printers with printer.xzm module and the individual ppd of these printers. But I imagine any hp printer given it has a ppd, and they usually have. See HOWTO on printer installation on porteus with printing module and ppd:
