A Desktop Alternative... (w/ Wayland compositing?)

New features which should be implemented in Porteus; suggestions are welcome. All questions or problems with testing releases (alpha, beta, or rc) should go in their relevant thread here, rather than the Bug Reports section.

A Desktop Alternative... (w/ Wayland compositing?)

Post#1 by blue4meridian » 03 Jul 2015, 13:49

Salutations... :good:

The current choice of Porteus desktops is outstanding.
Perhaps... there could still be room for one more in the next release.

Some questions raised concerning LxQt which open doors to considering other options...

A Wayland future?

If not a replacement perhaps an alternative (Wayland) desktop w/ 20yrs of innovation...

Salutations... :good:

You are correct. However... Porteus has 4 "best" ways.

Maybe it's time for a 5th... that could give "eLive" and "Bodhi Linux" a run for the money.

you can put your salutations in your... posts
once again i salute my imperator furiosa, and i salute my half-life warboys who will ride with me eternal on the highways of valhalla

i welcome any work on porteus, as long as there is work and suggestions, its alive
im fine with xfce for now
and i think that the more there are different builds of porteus, the more divided porteus users are

Salutations... :good: or... would you prefer "greetings"?

I have used Xfce for many years. It is an excellent desktop.
However... my preference is currently the more aesthetic e19.

You see... the beauty (and "freedom") of Porteus is choice.
Which is also the beauty of open source (and/or FLOSS).

Best Regards... or... would you prefer "cheers"?
