Depreciation... (aka "worse is better")

Post#1 by blue4meridian » 03 Jul 2015, 00:02

Salutations... :good:

I'm interested in depreciating the base modules. :wall:

I already know how to remove/replace binaries.
That stated... exactly what is required beyond simply binary substitution?
Would any scripts, bindings and/or linking be needed for serious integration?
Also... would the integration procedure be done on a case by case basis?
Any help from the community would be welcome.

I wish to start with replacing libevent with libev.

Best Regards...

Salutations... :good:

I was thinking along the lines of a derivative flavor.
Most certainly this distro is without question outstanding.
However... since I switched to Porteus/e18 (I'm currently setting up e19)
I'm convinced now more than ever that performance can be increased.

My inspiration mostly comes from disto's like...
TinyCore... Nanolinux... and MenuetOS.

So... if anyone knows how to do integration I'm eager to hear your thoughts.

Best Regards...

hi, it is simple put the core.xzm in a directory, console: usquashfs core.xzm change what you have to change and mksquashfs to repack the core.xzm, porteus follow the slackware release so if slackware not change version porteus not change the version too, maybe you have to try kiosk edition based on gentoo,if you want software try to use sbopkg or usm,but if you need a new kernel version with devel package you can change kernel version without make a new initrd build a new kernel version, maybe increase speed.

well the short way i think is bring a txz package open it and put on the whole files into their respectives directories after the core.xzm unsquashfs, a big work,i have seen a good performance with the patched kernel like ck or liquorix patch, and i think hardware is big part of this environment that user call speed, but yes the console remain the best well not for me,not so good with keyboard.

This why I switched from TinyCore. You guys are incredible!
Thanks TinyCore!

I assume I will break alot of stuff initially but I guess that goes with the territory.
A lot of my inspiration comes from embedded projects like Suckless Utilities.

@ phhpro... I guess E18 is a bit counterproductive. :wall:
So I have switched to LxQt/Compiz (Kwin?). Thanks.
