Feedback (...to be or not to be?)

New features which should be implemented in Porteus; suggestions are welcome. All questions or problems with testing releases (alpha, beta, or rc) should go in their relevant thread here, rather than the Bug Reports section.

Feedback (...to be or not to be?)

Post#1 by blue4meridian » 28 Jun 2015, 23:22

Salutations... :good:

Should performance take a back seat to compatibility?
Or... is there a grey area where binary dropins and forks are acceptable?

Ok... I confess. I'm from Jersey... (the 6th bourough of NYC?).
Worse is better

I'm interested in feedback from a technical standpoint (as opposed to idealogical?).
Pls Note: All thoughts from the "community" are encouraged (so don't sit on the fence).

In any case... I'm not exactly sure why Porteus does not use the following... :unknown:

Musl (instead of Glibc)...
http://www.webwarper.net/ww/~av/www.eta ... libcs.html

Tcc/Llvm "runtime" (instead of Gcc)...
http://www.webwarper.net/ww/~av/lists.g ... 00020.html
http://www.webwarper.net/ww/~av/clang.l ... erformance

Best Regards...

We must stay compatible with upstream and Slackware uses glibc and gcc for almost all packages.
Please add [Solved] to your thread title if the solution was found.

Salutations... :good:

Does that mean then... that all forks and dropins are OS deal breakers? :unknown:

Best Regards...
