Bit torrents stuck at connecting to peers

Every client I have tried to download bit torrents sticks at connecting to peers. I've played with the settings and nothing works. Anyone have experience with torrents can help me out thanks.

Try again with deactivated ( porteus) firewall
Still not working?..check the router settings..(Firewall,blocked ports,port forwarding etc.)
and/or, could it be, that your ISP is causing the P2P trouble?

Thanks , for the help. It was a firewall issue. The library blocks bit torrents. Worked fine with my slow old home internet service

Yup..This is common at public access points to block these ports.
.....and everyone knows why.
