Hi kalo86,

Could you pls share how you manage to make it work? I have been struggling with my GeForce GT 740M for HP laptop.

@kalo86

please try /etc/X11/xorg.conf from original porteus module as it has following settings which may help:

Code: Select all

Option      "UseEdidDpi" "False"
Option      "DPI" "96 x 96"
Please add [Solved] to your thread title if the solution was found.

@fanthom: thank you, with your help I now have a good GUI on my laptop.

EDIT: There is another problem: in order to start the LXQt environment I have to start Porteus in text mode, login and then send the command "startx".
If I simply boot Porteus in LXQt, after the NVIDIA splash screen I have a black screen and nothing more. By pressing ALT+F4 and then CTRL+ALT+CANC I can reboot my laptop.
This issue is not shown if I boot Porteus in KDE environment.
Any suggestion is much appreciated :)

@francois: that was not a problem of font size but a DPI issue. Thanks to fanthom I managed to change the DPI inside the xorg.conf and now the graphics is really ok.
At the moment I don't understand why the KDE is booting without any problem and the LXQt needs to be started in text mode with the "startx" command line...

@kalo86
no idea why its like that but as a workaround you could use these cheatcodes:

Code: Select all

3 cliexec=startx

And for xfce, what is the behavior of:

Code: Select all

3 cliexec=startx
Prendre son temps, profiter de celui qui passe.

@cttan: Here you can download the Nvidia module:

http://www.kaloracing.it/linux/NVidia_3 ... 4-kalo.xzm

Today I read a news about the Nvidia Geforce 900 series and the missing compatibility with the FOSS driver. For this reason the new 900series Nvidia graphic cards need the proprietary drivers. Now it's more clear! :roll:

Update: the cheatcode "3 cliexec=startx" does not work. In more, with this cheatcode KDE will not start and the behavior is the same as LXQt, the black screen after the Nvidia splash screen. :sorry:

Hi kalo86,

Thank you very much. I have tested on my laptop and it is not working.
I have created my own module for Optimus and it is working now.

Cheers!
