Thanks. Only thing it's been difficult finding alternatives to my Slackware download malfunctioning USM to find the necessary files. Still testing.

Hi jimwg
At one stage had to also get rid of USM and start afresh. If you have followed brokenman's directions and purged USM out of your system, there is something which you maybe can try.
  1. Bring up your system in always fresh mode (no changes)
  2. Download usm-3.1.7-noarch-1.txz into your home directory.
  3. Running as root in a terminal

    Code: Select all

    installpkg usm-3.1.7-noarch-1.txz
    usm -i
    usm -u all

Let's see what you get for usm -i
Well, for lack of something else to do, you can try this :)

Ruefully, java-on-Porteus project postponed till I can get USM up and running again to download needed files by. :(

The Slaxmax method described here: Tip: Build your own Java Oracle module, does not require USM. I've used it on 3.01 i486 & x86-64 builds and a x86_64 3.1 build, the latter required an additional command noted here: Tip: Build your own Java Oracle module

@Ed_P
Could you try to build this java module and share somewhere? If it is not large problem for you.
You have mind and feelings. Be wise and clever.
