Icon problem with emelfm2 LXDE-->LXQt

I am transitioning from LXDE to LXQt and am almost there. One unresolved problem:

My emelfm2 modules t work perfectly with LXDE (both in 3.01 and 3.1 - I used the 3.0.1 LXDE 3- module with the other 3.1 base modules)
However, when I use these emelfm2 modules with LXQt, emelfm2 does not display the icons properly. The icons are loading properly in /usr/share/pixmaps/emelfm2 but try as I might I cannot get them to work.

When I run emelfm2 from a terminal I get many errors of this sort:
(emelfm2:2898): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_new_from_file_at_scale: assertion `width > 0 || width == -1' failed

This is probably the heart of the problem, but I need advice on how to proceed.

A very easy way is "rm ~/.gtkrc-2.0".
