Hi,
I used slax earlier, but need up to date distr, tried v09 and v01, 32 version.

some v01 bugs

md5sum for 002-xorg.xzm in porteus-v1_beta-i486.iso differ in md5sums.txt and in iso

iso - 784d358f9ffa194aaaa213cacd100527 002-xorg.xzm
md5sums.txt - 3691cdb43f99cbbae77ba89ee638f290 porteus/base/002-xorg.xzm

booting (reading data) from USB stick is slower than booting v09

It is normal,

BrokenMan has patched the iso remotly on the Ponce's server without update the md5sum.txt file.
