Is it possible to add drivers to Porteus Kiosk that where written for Ubuntu 13.10?

as far as i know Canonical does not write any drivers exclusively for their own system so the answer is 'yes'.
which drivers do you want to add?

The drivers where written by Intel targeting Ubuntu. I specifically need to add Broadcom SDIO WiFi drivers and possibly a driver for eMMC storage. I think the eMMC storage may just be a partitioning issue. I'm inexperienced with Non-Micro$oft OSes so it is more than likely my fault. I think I may have not deleted the old Windows 8.1 partitions prior to installation.

Wifi drivers found in this package:

it could be about missing firmware rather than missing driver. please boot Ubuntu-13.10 and shown me output of following commands (upload one file to pastebin.com or send to me on support@porteus-kiosk.org):

Code: Select all

lspci -knn
lsusb
lsusb -t
lsmod
dmesg
thanks

if the wifi works on 14.04 then it's also ok.
i need to identify a driver/firmware used in Ubuntu and check if we have them in the kiosk already.

thanks

Yep, surprisingly Ubuntu 14.04LTS x64 works out of the box all drivers/firmwares already integrated. I can't stand the GUI but it works really well. I'm installing it now, results will be ready soon.

Okay funny thing, I can't get the WiFi to work at all anymore. I removed and reseated the card no difference. I'm going to try installing Windows again and test it.

The wifi card is totally hosed. I can get it to start in Windows but it crashes the whole machine after 15 seconds. Thanks for the help anyway.
