Nope... I don't have contact with nobody to ad my repo in a search engine except for slackpkg+.

Re: Wishlist for porteus 3.1
Will that then be a new USM version, or will the current 3.1.7 just "know" about the new repository?brokenman wrote:@Community
After speaking with Panagiotis I have decided to add this repo to USM. It has lasted 12 months and the maintainer is quick to respond. After he sets up rsync I will add it to our database. Thanks for the suggestion.
Me thinks you will have to make a new one, since in -h lists its knows repos "alien|ponce|salix|slackware|slacky|all"
Cheers!

Yes it will be a new version. I lost the OS on my work computer so have to spend time reconstructing it (installing windows 10). This new version will delayed for a week. Sorry.
How do i become super user?

<off topic>At least SM WIndows now realizes that their OS is so crappy that they have to give it to us for free. Who would have guessed so that Linux and Android (that's just one Linux variant) would bring SM , sorry MS to that! </mission accomplished>
Also, all computers on the OSS are now Linux based, no longer are there any Windoze Computers allowed on OSS:
Not joking here, that's a real news, and not that new even! Most of you heard about that already, probably.</off topic>
But I will have to play with Witless7 at work soon again. [And the admin does a crappy job *shrug* It's his job, not mine. Me thinks he has a lot to do, since he not changed the errors and bugs of the setup on that Witless 7 I already told them about, like, 2 years ago...]
I have 7 pre-installed on my newest Laptop, but usually never run it. (What for? To have the need of running a virus scanner and the need of having a personal fire wall? That is not even part of the kernel and therefore can be easily tricked?)
But it is nice how you can abuse use it's hidden first partition to put in your Porteus, or Puppy, or such.

Currently syncing the slackonly repository but the bandwidth limit makes it extremely slow. After 12 hours it has pulled packages from a --> g.

Can confirm,ncmprhnsbl wrote:also there is a new "fast mirror" : http://packages.slackonly.com/

@francois
It's as I feared. Slackonly is affected. And it's going to be worse, as Greece did not get a breathing space. and has to knuckle down,

For next version, be it 4.0 or whatever...
I really miss LXDE. I know it has already been covered (LXDE is maintained by just one person and has "no future"), but Porteus really shines with LXDE and is super fast in older hardware. I think it would be worth it to put out LXDE flavors of Porteus while it remains currently available.

Re: Wishlist for porteus 3.1
Well, a user should choose the desktop that makes him/her happy!
but IMHO
LXDE is really not that light, (only because of less goodies), compared to XFCE and
the XFCE-version is that fast, I don´t need to "downgrade" to LXDE,
even on older machines.

Same here, when I do the same comparison.
Now, when we had an X environment like Tiny core http://www.tinycorelinux.net/ running FLTK. Sure, it uses busybox and has not a real full bash, but it's small xz compressed modules and overall ideas are impressive. Hopefully Port is able to incorporate one or more ideas of TCL.

Re: Wishlist for porteus 3.1
I started adding slackonly to USM a few months back but the syncing of the server was SUPER slow, and I desisted. I will try to add it for the next version. Thanks for the heads up about the faster server. He does a really great job maintaining the repo.
