Upgrading to new release
Upgrading to new release
While I'm thrilled for the newer releases of Porteus, I find any lack of documentation about how to upgrade to a new distro and keep all data and modules discouraging. Is this procedure documented anywhere? it should be.

Re: Upgrading to new release
minor porteus releases (3.0, 3.1) are binary compatible (uses the same slackware version, ie slackware-14.1 as a base) so it's a matter of preserving your changes and custom modules, then replacing /boot and /porteus folders with new ones on your usb/hd.
major porteus releases (3.0, 4.0) are not binary compatible (uses different slackware version as a base) so you should rebuild all the modules and delete your changes when you installed some applications from txz packages.
you could try to use old modules and changes when doing a major porteus upgrade but we cant guarantee full compatibility.
