All slim Porteus with Pale Moon!

New features which should be implemented in Porteus; suggestions are welcome. All questions or problems with testing releases (alpha, beta, or rc) should go in their relevant thread here, rather than the Bug Reports section.

Have nvidia graphics card, as you know, and normally mozilla and other browsers tend to crash nouveau driver after a few minutes, but PM24.7.2 went quite a few minutes and did not crash nouveau. :Bravo: Btw was on a barebones kde system. So no outstanding dependencies.
IKR! :Yahoo!: I just so hope that upcoming 25.0 will at least similar stable... when we already have the issues of hacking one or the other plug in... (see above)
Cheers!

@Rava

Looks like you did not get my message of yesterday :( Been using 25.0 since yesterday. Greasemonkey I've been able to plug in. But what I would really like to get is the latest plug-in to stop YouTube autoplay. :wall:

Seems I misread your post, then, cause as I quoted you wrote about the latest 24.x version.

So, 25.0 is out for x86-64 Linux now as well? Will check it out in a sec. xD

So far I saw no reason for using Greasemonkey, but when the video player is so much better (system load wise) than flash plugin, I might check it out...

//update
Just updated PM to 25.0... and changed no plugins whatsoever, but indeed, it is - amazing enough - quicker than 24.7.2. :)
Cheers!

Indeed checks out. Found significantly less drain on memory, and YT autoplay playlist headache was somewhat reduced.

That point came to notice when changing to bubble gtk theme. Whereas with 24.7.2 noticeable delay in opening menu items, seemed to be no difference in response times between bubble and raleigh gtk themes for 25.0 :good:

The only downsize for me is that my plugin Ghostery no longer works, taht got already posted in the PM forum's thread for posting non working plugins with PM 25.x , but for some reason Ghostery not got put on PM's page where they list the non working plugins, and the possible workaround.
Hopefully they not forget about it and are just evaluation what can be done. I hacked the install.rdf inside the xpi, but it still says "Ghostery incompatible with pm 25" :(

3.1 Update re. gtk-themes

Braving it with nouveau driver on nvidia card. Now find that bubble-gtk as well as oxygen-gtk both crash PM. IMHO nouveau driver incompatibility. However raleigh-gtk does just fine. Yesterday got through 7 hour session mostly with PM and VLC plugin, using ViewTube. Did notice one thing though on YT pages, was that more than one time had to click on backwards green arrow in order to get to previous page. On 24.7.2 such requirement did not come to my attention.

Prior to closing down, retrieved flash from 04 ff xzm to try out. Seemed to work alright. Closed PM, did slackyd to get latest flash (see usm bug rep), then got problems with mouse, cpu 100% :( Could be to do with flashplayer minor 406 perhaps :unknown:

I missed one huge downsize in PM 25: Flash Video Downloader is no longer working, and when I checked the Known Incompatibility page on PM's homepage, that was still unresolved.
(I was not downloading any stuff for 2 days or so, therefore I missed that issue, but for now it seems I have to go back to latest 24.x for now, until this issue is finally solved)
Cheers!

Nope, not used any nightly in many years...
phhpro wrote:a) there are plenty of alternatives to the extension you mentioned
You mean alternative to the Flash Video Downloader?

Mind telling me some that work with PM25? All I tried fail just like FVD...

phhpro wrote:I used to like FFX, but it's becoming increasingly bloated, and thus have dropped it completely in favour of PM some time ago; and since Iceweasel had recently been crash-bumped from 24 up to 31 it's no longer an option.
Yeah, yeah we all know that FF is a bloated blundering elephant, but in all this SeaMonkey, from Mozilla, doesn't get a look in. :( Unfortunately until devs come up with driver for nvidia cards, Mozilla is crashing nouveau, although PM proving surprisingly resilient for Mozilla, crashing only on start up, and so far just a handful of times REISUB required.

phhpro wrote:@rava: ... I'd like to think feeding something like flash download into the search field on the add-ons page will provide a whole battery of them.
Finally got round today to installing the usual download addons. Video Download Helper no problems.
phhpro wrote:@bogomips:... Telling from memory, I recall plenty of similar posts with Nvidia being the subject. Perhaps filing a ticket directly with them might prove helpful?
No point. They've finally released docs to OpenSource. Just remains to wait for drivers to be modified on basis of that documentation.
