Gud pm mr. Brokenman

Yep...I tried it in an win7 machine...It works there. Maybe the Nvidia HDA interferes with the operation? :x

Anyway. I tried alsamixer. It detects it properly but no sound...though the sound applet in Mate crashes after that....

I removed posts with unrequired information. The problem is probably the order of your sound cards.

Code: Select all

SOUND CARDS:
 0 [NVidia ]: HDA-Intel - HDA NVidia
HDA NVidia at 0xfea7c000 irq 19
 1 [DSX ]: AV200 - Xonar DSX
                      Asus Virtuoso 66 at 0xd800, irq 16
There are various ways to change it. First try the sound card settings in 'Porteus Settings Centre'.

You may also try adding the following file: /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
It should contain:

Code: Select all

options snd slots=snd_virtuoso,snd_hda_intel
options snd_virtuoso index=0
options snd_hda_intel index=1
This will specify the sound card order during boot.

Good Pm, Mr. BrokenMan

I did use the 'Porteus Settings Centre'. Switching it to Xonar and applying it so that a sound_config.xzm was created. But still the same. Though When I accidentally click the apply button to set the Xonar as the default for the current seesion but it return an error

But I'm gonna try to use the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf. Is this file already on the modprobe.d or I have to make one since its not on the folder.

Thx for the assist...Hehehe...I gonna try the link to ALSA...

Chow... :good:

You will need to make the folder/file. Also be sure to remove the module created by the Porteus Settings Centre if it is not working.
