Customizable screensaver

Hi, I really like Porteus Kiosk and the web-based wizard, but it would be nice if there was a way to customize the screensaver. My employers asked me to display an ad when the kiosk is not being used and the simple screensaver which is included wasn't enough for this purpose, since I had to display pictures in a slideshow fashion (and they REALLY wanted this feature, since we actually got paid a nice sum to display this ad). I managed to make this work by using xscreensaver on a different machine and copying the files over to my Porteus installation, but it ended up being much more work than it should have been

I don't need this feature anymore since I managed to implement it myself, but maybe there are others who would like it (actually, I would like it too, that would make updates easier, I guess)? Just wanted to share my thoughts on this.

that's a lot of work indeed (plus additional size and CPU usage) that's why i stuck to the simple screensaver.
if more users request this feature then i'll probably implement it.

few weeks ago i though that kiosk is feature complete but users request new things all the time. that's why i have started thinking about a bounty system for kiosk:
Open-source bounty
if fixed amount of money is gathered then new feature is implemented.

You can add me to the list of people who would like to see a slide show type screen saver where you could upload your own images. I'd also be willing to shell out a few bucks. It would make Porteus Kiosk almost perfect for my use in a museum setting. Even the option to have the screen saver show a scrolling custom text message on a black screen would be really helpful.

ok will add 'customizable screensaver' to the bounty/wishlist page for kiosk.
is it only about displaying a picture/picture slideshow/custom text or something else is needed?

Can't speak for anyone else of course but that would make me happy. Even without the desired screensaver I'll be using Porteus to replace a couple Windows/SiteKiosk machines I have running. Would use it more if that was an option though. Thanks. Your work is appreciated.

there was no much interest in customizable splash (only one person donated) so i canceled this item.
