Hello,
Thank you for this excellent distribution. I have successfully configured a computer using Porteus Kiosk 2.1.1 to function as a library public access catalog computer (PAC). It is working beautifully as an appliance.
One thing sorely missing is a way to have Number Lock enabled on startup. Library patrons often need to enter their library card numbers in order to log into their account, but Number Lock has to be enabled each and every single time we turn on the computer. I know that there is a package called "numlockx" out there that does what we need, but being a Linux novice I have no idea how to integrate numlockx into Porteus. Can this be an option to enable in future revisions of Porteus Kiosk? Until then, can anybody give us pointers on how to resolve this issue? Our bios is currently set to have Number Lock on, but once Porteus boots up, Number Lock turns off.
Another thing we noticed is that if we enable DPMS, library patrons would think that the catalog computer is out of service or shutdown. We have disabled DPMS for the time being, but we are worried about screen burn in. If there was a way to integrate a simple screen saver that displayed "Catalog Computer" all around the screen, it would help library patrons identify the computer from afar and also to serve to let them know that the catalog computer is functioning and available for use.
Thank you again! I am so pleased to have discovered Porteus Kiosk for our library!

Re: [Solved] Number Lock and Screen Saver
Hello, everything is working perfectly with version 3.0. The choice of screen saver is perfect as it allows a person to know that the computer is working and does not hide the content.
Number lock is perfect, no need to keep enabling NumLock on every boot up anymore.
Thank you so much!

For those wishing to deactivate numlock on 3.0. What do you suggest?
