sounds like a hardware problem as it happens randomly.
please wait till you get it next time and then generate full raport through the 'xpsinfo' utility -> upload to pastebin.com -> link here.

Still memory test. maybe your Debian doesn't make use of the memory hole and Porteus does....

You do not have to change your DE, it is just to test your machine, your hardware...just burn an iso and test, that's all!
