I have a Gateway laptop with the T4500 chip, I've read that gives some problems with the brightness at sartup. If I power on the laptop with low brightness, screen goes black, but if I power on with max brightness everything is normal. Once in the desktop I can't change the brightness and the battery charger has to be pluged, otherwise the screen goes black.
Looking other forums and other threads here, I found that the solution is adding a line in /etc/rc.local and adding acpi_osi=Linux to kernel line. So how I can edit this lines?

Re: Brightness problem with Intel T4500
hi racer63,
you should add this cheatcode to all modes (GUI, text, copy2ram, etc) in /boot/syslinux/porteus.cfg rather than rc.local.

Please add [Solved] to your thread title if the solution was found.
Re: Brightness problem with Intel T4500
The acpi_osi=Linux as cheat code solved part of the problem. If I power on with the brightness max, it boots, but if I don't change the brightness level, screen goes black. At least, now the brightness control is working on the desktop.
