1) At the begining of the thread you forgot to tell us if your printer was working usb wise. Is it the case? You have to sort the issue of getting your printer work with the right driver, before trying to work with it on network. If in the list of printers you do not see hl-2270dw, it seems that HL-2170W is a good substitute, see:
http://www.openprinting.org/printer/Bro ... -HL-2270DW
With the printing.xzm you have to go for the ppd method:
porteus panel menu > system > printing > +(icon) > provide ppd file > filesystem > /usr/share/cups/model/ > /usr/share/cups/model/Brother-HL-2170W-hpijs-pcl5e.ppd
2) Once your ppd file or driver is installed, then you could use the procedure for network printer given at the beginning of your thread but using the ppd option with the printer.xzm module.
@ahau: Brother HL-2270DW is not in the /usr/share/cups/model/ of the printer.xzm module, neither it is in gutenprint module. If it works maybe we should just make a copy of Brother-HL-2170W-hpijs-pcl5e.ppd And I suspect that generic pcl 5e or pcl 5e lf could work also for the HL-2270DW. Maybe willipabon could test these!

Also, I have found a few pertinent threads:
