I finally managed to include the Porteus Kiosk info into the main Porteus wikipedia article.

Fanthom had some valid reasons to have an Porteus Kiosk article on its own, but for now, the wikipedia admins / responsible editors rejected that.

Please take a look at it [ Porteus (operating system): Porteus Kiosk ] and tell me if you think there should be changes. Fanthom already said the "Porteus Kiosk" subchapter should come after the "Reception" subchapter... but usually the reception is put as last, therefore I choose this order...
Cheers!

The chapter on kiosk looks good to me, tightly written. :)

It was written by fanthom, I just corrected 2 errors in the <ref>, that's all. All kudos to him!

Indeed, it should have, overread that part...

Me thinks on here there is a thread that lists 3.0.1 with userland 14.1, yes? cause I need some reference or else I get this [citation needed] issue...
Cheers!

yes - kiosk is based on Gentoo and yes - would be better to keep it on separated wiki article as now everything is mixed up.
some may even think that we have Trinity in kiosk.
hopefully it wont cause unnecessary confusion but this is all what we can get (as per wiki admins).
if there will be confusion then i just remove kiosk from the main article.

thanks
Please add [Solved] to your thread title if the solution was found.

phhpro wrote:@rava: while you are there, you may want to check with languages (Available in): All [..] Unless Porteus actually provides native locales for _All_ languages, this may need to be clarified.
I have to look where to get the info what wikipedia considers "all" languages here, since I doubt that there is even one OS that literally has "all" current languages available, so the "all" might not really mean that: "all" available languages...

But that could take a while to get the needed info...
phhpro wrote:PPM has been replaced by USM, hasn't it?
Ahhh yes, indeed. I forgot that in the meantime, I already had that in my mental wikipedia todo list but forgot to actually write that list digitally/physically... :( :Rose:

Does anyone have the forum post URL at hand where that news (PPM has been replaced by USM) was first posted? I need that as source for the edit...
phhpro wrote:In addition, I think fanthom mentioned something along the lines to drop LXDE in favour of LXQT. Perhaps a slightly more generic approach regarding available DE's would be more flexible.
That can only be put on there when the change is really done. I can put the info in like "up to 3.0.1 LXDE, from 3.1rc?? onwards LXQT" or such, but I cannot put that in a wikipedia article prior it became reality...

But all in all, thanks phhpro for the heads up! Greatly appreciated!
Cheers!

First mention of USM: http://forum.porteus.org/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=3185

I would leave rc stuff out of the wiki for as little maintenance as possible. Thanks for your help Rava.

Put in USM info: Porteus (operating system

Now what lacks, the OS info box has these entries:
supported_platforms have to find out what the valid entries are here for x86/686 and x86-64.

latest_preview_version
latest_preview_date
Me thinks having these put in is too much work. If anyone interested in RC versions, (s)he would head over to our forum or main site anyway...
Cheers!

To have a distinction between kiosk edition and porteus standard edition, why not having two subsections in the following order:
1) porteus standard edition (full featured linux operating system)
having a paragraph describing with more details the os
2) porteus kiosk edition (minimalist porteus version for secured web only terminal)
making the distinction with ports standard os edition

My girl friend is diabetic. I would have to eat them hidden somewhere like in the car. In addition, its not very good for the teeth or the belly.

In fact, I thought it would have been abusive to ask fanthom or brokenman given the issue of rc1.

Your have a very good memory Ed!

Here in Montreal (Quebec), there are very few weddings compared to the rest of north America. This decrease in terms of marital unions came in around the 60s. At which time we went thru what has been called the tranquil or quiet revolution. Religion representatives, which were enforcing state law and conservative values and order, were thrown into the basket. Since then, most of us live in sin. So girlfriend=wife=spouse (in french canadian, ma blonde=ma femme=ma conjointe).

A very small review with elogious words on porteus announcing 3.1 rc:

:D An interesting history lesson francois.

I'm surprised ma partenaire isn't in there.

I should have also included ma partenaire. We are proud to say that we have the most liberated women around the world here in quebec. They are for sure not dominated. Thus you better have them as partners.
