Re: Proxy Support
Updated latest wizard with disable firewall support. Sorry for the oversight. I believe this existed in older versions but got lost somewhere along the way.
How do i become super user?

Re: Proxy Support
So far, I've done the following: "use wizard to setup your own firefox password -> disable firewall manually -> launch custom kiosk ISO in vbox -> go to 'about:home' -> click on 'settings' -> type your password -> fill in proxy details and check net connection." The only exception is that I used the updated kiosk wizard to disable the firewall. After I changed the proxy settings in the browser I was still unable to get to the Internet.
I can send you the newly created ISO, porteus-kiosk-10.iso, of 44 MB. Where do you want it?
I changed all of the passwords to ABcd1234!.

Re: Proxy Support
A public file sharing site is enough. Something like mediafire would be good. Thanks

Re: Proxy Support
I've uploaded a document I created to hopefully help someone else out there with PKE customization. It is still a work-in-progress, but should be good enough for now for someone to get started with. I'll update and post it as I learn more about PKE.

Re: Proxy Support
@jmalon
everything is ok with your ISO. i launched it in vbox, went to firefox preferences and set proxy settings like here:
http://oi47.tinypic.com/abhq9.jpg
then i opened porteus.org webpage and saw client entries in squid access.log (on host machine):
so from kiosk point of view everything seems to be ok.
must be something with your network.
btw: please remember that for this test you cant restart firefox as it will bring back defaults.

Re: Proxy Support
I use these same settings and the same VirtualBox VM for booting Porteus Standard Edition, WebConverger, and other Linux-based live-CDs and they all work with the proxy server settings except for PKE. I just point the virtual CD to a different ISO.
Can it be that PKE doesn't support the network card or something like that? For this VM I'm using the Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop (82540EM) as eth0 (Bridged). The version of VirtualBox I'm using is 4.2.10 r84104.
I'll try changing the NIC to see if that makes a difference. I've upload a screen print of my VirtualBox configuration - http://www.mediafire.com/view/?q19h9mqse6zm8fo

Re: Proxy Support
1. I wrote the porteus-kiosk-10 image to CD and tried it in an IBM ThinkCentre 8090-22U. After changing the proxy settings it works.
2. I built a new VirtualBox VM with a different NIC. This time I tried the PCnet-FAST III (Bridged, eth0). It did not work.
Next, I'll try different NICs and turn bridging off.

Re: Proxy Support
Weird issue....The Firefox homepage has become a mixture of the homepage I put into the kiosk wizard and the default homepage of http://porteus.org in the middle. This has happened a few times now. The homepage I've changed it to in kiosk wizard is https://www.example.com/ex/touch.dll/?F ... =yyyyyyyyy. However, when the CD is booted to PKE, the homepage becomes https://www.example.com/ex/touch.dll/?F ... =yyyyyyyyy. I think the "&" may be an issue.

Re: Proxy Support
good - it confirms that from ISO point of view everything is ok, other cases must be vbox/network settings (firewall) related.I wrote the porteus-kiosk-10 image to CD and tried it in an IBM ThinkCentre 8090-22U. After changing the proxy settings it works.
will be fixed in next wizard/ISO spin. The Firefox homepage has become a mixture of the homepage I put into the kiosk wizard and the default homepage of http://porteus.org in the middle.
i have also fixed CD ejection bug, finally (i hope) fixed screensaver/DPMS issue, and implemented new feature: possibility of shutting down firefox after certain period of keyboard/mouse inactivity.
waiting on brokenman to implement this option in the wizard.
thanks a lot for your feedback.

Re: Proxy Support
Since the proxy server settings work properly on a physical PC, I'm going to mark this thread as solved. Thank you again for all of your work!
Time to hit the touch screen calibration issue some more.
