Making UFD Bootable from a Mac
Making UFD Bootable from a Mac
I use a Mac as my primary development machine, so when I need to make a USB Flash Drive bootable, I need to go find a Windows machine to run the bootinst.bat script (or a Linux machine, to run the corresponding script for that). I would love, love, love if there was a way to make a UFD bootable using my Mac. Is that possible?

Re: Making UFD Bootable from a Mac
someone would have to write an installer for Mac first.
asked other devs but they are not interested in picking up this task. i may do it but my knowledge about Mac system is very small so it's going to take a time.
hopefully in next release we will have 'Porteus-installer-for-Mac' but can't promise.

I am MAC ignorant and have no way of (real world) testing anything i've written. Would love to help otherwise.
How do i become super user?

There is no way for us to test if Apple security will blocks or not the scripts. Their boot loader is really good for security but a little annoying for loading a 3rd party OS. We can't forgot that Apple is blocking some commands and there is no ways to get them working as we can't switch over root on OS X.
I would help too but haven't any ways for testing this. Emulating an OS X is not sufficient.

Re: Making UFD Bootable from a Mac
I look at the issue a few years ago. There is a sofware called refit to make mac multiboot:
http://refit.sourceforge.net/
This seem interesting.
There is a method to install it on a stick. Maybe I should try it on my girlfriend macbook air. But I do not see when I will have the time to do that. In addition, I am really not mac oriented.
