dpkg_sq4_x64.lzm
dpkg_sq4_x64.lzm
I need dpkg urgently. deb2lzm doesn't work, virus-scanner doesn't install and it's impossible to install any .deb-package available on the net. Bad idea removing it!
Could please someone post a dpkg-lzm-package? In sq4-x64-version if possible? Since slackware has a complete different environment as debian has, it's impossible to install dpkg manually.

Re: dpkg_sq4_x64.lzm
open dolphin -> right mouse click on deb package -> choose 'convert deb to lzm' option
-------------------------------------------
Moved from 'x86_64 lzm modules' to 'x86_64 lzm module requests' as module requests goes there.

Re: dpkg_sq4_x64.lzm
dpkg is missing. This option doesn't exist/work. Other suggestions?

maybe your deb is not a standard package? could you provide a link to it?

Re: dpkg_sq4_x64.lzm
hi nucleus look at this link to dpkg stand alone package:http://www.mediafire.com/beny,if you have a debian package right click on it,and you can convert it
Re: dpkg_sq4_x64.lzm
Hi phantom,
I was wrong - the option exists and mysteriously works. I also found a sq4-64-bit-dpkg-lzm which makes deb2lzm running again. However dpkg itself doesn't work and always complains about not finding some static-file (with informations of installed packagages) or unable opeing update.rc.d. Tried several versions since I can convert .deb-packages now - and it was always the same. Bitdefender uses an executable .deb.run-file which assumes dpkg is on the system. It doesn't install the virus-scanner without dpkg! Tried converting the file with right-click >> convert as well. The opreation failed and did erase the content of the file!

Re: dpkg_sq4_x64.lzm
LOL
Google is not your friend anymore? I remember now, finding the download is a bit tricky. Neither bitdefenders main-page nor the "bitdefender for unices"-site offer a download.
so...no linux-download on the free-editions-page:
http://www.bitdefender.com/PRODUCT-14-e ... ition.html
No free-versions on the main-download-page:
http://www.bitdefender.com/site/Downloads/
Only desktop-integration-tools on bitdefenders unices-page:
http://unices.bitdefender.com/downloads/
Only a registration for a unix-trial-version on the business-download-page:
http://www.bitdefender.com/world/busine ... nices.html
...soooooo the secret link you might look for is this one:
http://download.bitdefender.com/SMB/Wor ... _RO/Linux/
Registration for a free one-year-license here:
http://www.bitdefender.com/PRODUCT-80-e ... nices.html
(found on an online-magazine: http://tombuntu.com/index.php/2009/07/0 ... e-license/ and here: http://techreviews.in/installing-free-b ... buntu-904/)

Re: dpkg_sq4_x64.lzm
why do you want to install a commercial antivirus on linux? for linux daily use it doesn't matter, it's not windows.
if you need it to scan windows partitions clamav does the job and it's free.

Re: dpkg_sq4_x64.lzm
Clamwin is newer, open-source and finds less viruses. Also, the why-question is the evil question and is shifting the topic. I didn't post to tell you why I use which software. I did post because dpkg is not working properly. Ask me why again and I'll kill you (this way ->
or that way:
or like him:

Re: dpkg_sq4_x64.lzm
friend, you're doing a bit of confusion dpkg works with the right button on the file to be converted, as dpkg module via console work and tell you that it works, check that you download rather.
Re: dpkg_sq4_x64.lzm
only thing that's confusing me is your grammar.

Re: dpkg_sq4_x64.lzm
@nucleus
bad news for you:
BitDefender-Antivirus-Scanner in version 7.6-4 is simply too old for Porteus as it was released in MAR 2009. i have got this output after installing 'rpm' version:
BitDefender expects glibc in version 2.3 while we have glibc-2.12.1. Try to run it on Slax-6.1.2 or switch to opensource alternative as suggested by ponce.
BTW - try to be more kind next time or nobody gonna help you.
Cheers

Re: dpkg_sq4_x64.lzm
plus there are no debs there
http://download.bitdefender.com/SMB/Wor ... _RO/Linux/
these are auto extracting executables for various distros: read it with a text editor to see how to extract debian packages.
considering that there are a lot of proper debian packages out there, still I can't see why people here have to help you with a commercial product: as for me, you better ask next question about bitdefender on its forum, where people are paid to answer you.
this has nothing to do with dpkg on porteus, at all.
