Hi,
sincerely thanks for your k3b program that is available on the package repository.
But there is a forgotten dependency that k3b needs to burn cd. When started it said I also need to install cdrdao to be able to write cd. Then it could be interesting to add it to the dependency when users asked to install k3B
Another interesting thing. I tried to copy a cd (I did it perfectly with k3b).
When I instered the cd in the tray the standard pburn program never saw it. K3b automatically detected it and asked me what to do with it.
Then I consider k3b is really better than pburn (this last program never saw the inserted cd).
With pleasure to have helped you in this little forgotten dependency.
I wish you a nice day,
Miguipda ;-)

Hi miguipda,
Thanks for the bug report. Are you using the standard (kde4+lxde) edition, or the Xfce edition? If it's Xfce, I'm pretty sure I know the cause of both failures.

Please take a look at our online documentation, here. Suggestions are welcome!

Re: k3b dependency forgotten
K3b needs hald and hald is no longer maintained and therefore deprecated. As a consequence k3b is being abandoned in favor of pburn, that does not depend on hald.
Porteus is proud of the FASTEST KDE ever made.....(take akonadi, nepomuk and soprano out and you will have a decent OS).

Re: k3b dependency forgotten
hello miguipda,
functional dependencies are not supported yet (example: tryecrypt needs sudo to work but ldd - or any package trackers like requiredbuilder - wont show any deps missing).
in Porteus-2.0 (i hope - as it depends on brokenman's availability) will go with binary deps by default but PPM should look after functional deps as well.
they will have to be maintained manually, but i know only few which would classify to this category so it should not be a problem (and i know already how to automate the process fully).
thanks.

i think it's kde specific service so will check if it could be tweaked to use pburn instead of k3b.When I instered the cd in the tray the standard pburn program never saw it.
thanks.

Re: k3b dependency forgotten
this is implemented now - kde4 will offer opening Pburn if optical disk is found.i think it's kde specific service so will check if it could be tweaked to use pburn instead of k3b.
still having some troubles with latest pburn release but hopefully bigbass will help me with resolving all issues

Re: k3b dependency forgotten
Personally I like K3B more than pburn. Most CD written in K3B is usable. So far pburn has not been able to write a usable CD for me.
