Playing around i found i could fool KDE4 Dolphin into thinking it is running in a KDE4 environment while running under Trinity. This should be doable with most KDE4 applications in a Trinity environment. I think in some cases an 'all in one' standalone application would be preferable for some people.
Personally i would always prefer the linux way of a package manager taking care of deps, but i believe with storage space becoming less pf a problem, linux could move more towards portability of applications. There are just too many distros out there these days.
