What DE you running Tony and can you post your file manager's Settings for Behavior?

This what I see with Cinnamon's nemo's file manager's default settings:
Image
View executable text files when they are opened

Single, Double, and Triple clicks display the file. :happy62: :)

Somewhere I read you are running porteus/x on your Hard Disk -- from ISO and open as root
Probably here:

and on the hard drive I boot ISOs,
I don't remember saying I open it as root, and don't. These Grub2Win menus may help you: Error - Performing Porteus update check

Thats where I stopped as I know just about nothing about " what to do---where to look --- etc etc etc "
Please if you want me to check something, Yes, I do it with the greatest of pleasure, but.....give some details
The number 80 on my username is closely related to Dem..... !

Where? The ones I look at are in my /home/guest/ folder and they don't open and run with the default nemo settings.

Really enjoying 1.9 XFCE, thanks! Minor suggestion about savefile creation window timeout:

I wonder if an informational window like "please wait" can pop up when finally starting to create a large savefile, just so a user doesn't think it has crashed with no feedback. Yes, one should be patient here, but still ... :)

Even on my system with usb 3 ports and usb 3 drives, when going to the max near 4gb of savefile creation (for fat32 stick at least), after making your choices, the window immediately drops out. Yes of course one can see it is still being created by running top and seeing dd doing it's thing.

Simply waiting fixes it, but a first-timer might not know up front and do a drastic exit. NOT a showstopper! :)
That's a UNIX book - cool. -Garth
