New features which should be implemented in Porteus; suggestions are welcome. All questions or problems with testing releases (alpha, beta, or rc) should go in their relevant thread here, rather than the Bug Reports section.

Hi folks

Maybe we should, just like eg. Debian, Blender, Wine, KolibriOS, also have our own git server to make it easier to develop Porteus together and for Porteus-related projects (with option to mirror projects to other sites, such as GitHub or public GitLab service)? What do you think about that?

Remember that Porteus is a free - as in beer - distribution.
So who will be paying for the hardware and hosting costs?
And who will have the will and time to administer things?

Right, however I also thought about that if independence from other git service provider is not crucial, there is also possible to put Porteus sources to some free git hosting (from such sites I know Github, Gitlab, Codeberg) and work on them there.
Although, maybe I'm asking kinda too much
Unless these sources are already shared in place unknown to me

This is a slightly different project
Take a look at
https://github.com/porteus -- it has one empty repository so far, made in 2013
Oh, but we can add stuff to its Wiki! I've already added a Welcome page and a random how-to note
https://github.com/porteus/porteusRepository/wiki
Seems anyone with a github account can modify it? Isn't it too liberal though?
In principle, I could populate it with my porteus md notes that I have in my local Obsidian... So at least Porteus would have an unofficial Wiki

By the way some time ago I only found some (very outdated) Porteus sources, I don't remember from where I got them
- porteus-current-20180623.tar
- porteus-current-20190413.tar.xz
I haven't found anything newer.
EDIT: Maybe I will upload that what I found here
https://e.pcloud.link/publink/show?code ... folderlist these files should be here in a moment.

As a non-github user I tried the 2 github.com/porteus links above and found no links that showed me anything.
Added in 7 hours 52 minutes 47 seconds:
Oh, Ok. "loginctl poweroff" is part of the posting not a link.

Yes, but

anyone with a github account can modify it
because someone forgot to wiki restrict edit permissions and no other can change it

, and that means we can expect potential acts of vandalism there.
And Github repo wikis, especially lists of pages, always seemed weird and bit vague to me.

also have our own git server
we've had bitbucket git repo (free) for some years, but has been private.
might be time to make it public.
i'm currently dealing with some hardware issues, but when i get a chance, i'll open it up and post a link.
