We're fixing the mirror issue.

Even if another mirror is selected, it will always download the package from the main server!
This shouldn't be the case!

We're fixing this.

by the looks of https://slackware.halpanet.org/slackdce ... CKAGES.TXT (the offending PACKAGE MIRROR: line is removed)
i would guess this is now fixed and the the above workaround for slapt-mod/slapt-get is no longer needed.
thanks again for your efforts :)

I would like to help with the development of Porteus, but I'm unsure about the kernel and some other things.

Because it differs from the original Slackware, I've been using Slackware since the first release until today, always using the stable version. I've never used Current because the development branch is very unstable, and that goes beyond the concept of Slack.

I understand that the Current branch is only for testing new developments that may or may not be included in the stable version.

Porteus is very good, even for new users, but as I said, there are things that don't adhere to the stable version of Slackware.

Although it maintains compatibility, I'd have to study the reasons for these differences.

Perhaps looking at the script or whatever they use to build it would help me see those things. I could even add or improve performance by optimizing the system and the kernel.
I know the kernel very well, and it can be optimized a lot when it's for Slack. I'm referring to 5.15, which is the current one. Slackware stable

I'll look into all this. If you need any help with anything, feel free to email me.

Thanks
