porteus-xf (XFCE-4.6.2)

Post#1 by crashman » 16 Jul 2011, 19:53

Standard XFCE is very fine but theme is ugly i made new theme for XFCE and integrate 'SlickneS' gtk-theme with 'black-white-style' icons.
This is my variant of porteus with XFCE-4.6.2.

Here is link for standard porteus-v1.0 with XFCE-4.6.2 only http://www.easy-share.com/1916721166/po ... 1.0RC1.iso

What is insaide:

33 plugins for xfce panel
Opera-11.50 fast web browser
flash-player-10.3
medit-1.0.3 as text editor
abiword as text procesor
parole video player
xfburn and much more.

This iso is RC1 and in future is change but now is my standard porteus linux distro :)

Cheers

I just downloaded it and tested it.

It works fine!

After a quick view, there are some icons missings in System sub-menu in Main menu.

I know that is not easy to make a public version. But do not save any personals changes on the public version like your details

For me, every things works but the keyboard for change the layouts does not run.

Great Job!

After a quick search about your problem,

I found the solution!!

Download this : libxklavier-5.1-i486-1.txz , and install it, after you will be to run the keyboard manager for change the keyboard settings and set the keyboard's layout.

After this solution, everythings is OK (only some icons missings due to Porteus App)
Only the Porteus App have their icons in special directory, that is why you have removed them. You just need to find them and do not remove them.

Great Job!

That is a preview after some minutes on it.

Hamza

Thank you for testing porteus-xf your solution is very usefull.

I look in your screenshot and see white xfce panel but normal is black - what do you use pc emulator VMware ?
i not see your cpu temp.

For missing icons i need more time for finding solution on the web in this time i don't know why not see icons.
I know that is not easy to make a public version. But do not save any personals changes on the public version like your details

This is only xfce panel plugin one from 33 easy to replace just right click on it and remove it, this plugin need start location.

For another users what is better city for this plugin ? please vote - city with the most points wins

hi crashman,

looks nice and works really fast (even in Vbox)!
the only thing which i would fix is 20+ missing deps - i hope there are not critical for the desktop.

any plans for upgrading XFCE to latest version 4.8.x?
i have found the packages in Robby's Workman repo:
http://connie.slackware.com/~rworkman/x ... ages/i486/

keep up with the good work!
Please add [Solved] to your thread title if the solution was found.

@ crashman,
I changed the default theme with Window Manager - I used xfce theme
And, I tried from VBox
You can set it by default.

@fanthom,
It is very fast in VBox, I tried it too ;)

Very nice. Thanks for this. :good:

I like this much more than Kde, and unlike Lxde, it's completely standalone. Please keep up the good work.

Crashman, I presume porteus-xf (XFCE-4.6.2) is 32 bit?

Will there be a 64 bit Version for 1.1 Porteus?
Cheers!
