I've tried Nemesis, and I hope it will be finally released as well.
The future is near. It has been in testing for some time now and appears to be going well. Some small annoyances that we need to overcome and I think it could become a very popular system.

Brisk menu is fast and responsive. Start typing an app name, press return once you see it at top list... Bang.
You would be pleased to know that MATE desktop in Porteus 4 will come with Brisk Menu :good:
Thanks for the good news.

Prior to Budgie, MATE was my choice for Porteus, but since Budgie works flawlessly in the scenarios I use, I think I'll stay there for a while.
However, I have MATE installed in another partition to keep an eye on it. Let's see how it evolves compared to XFCE.

Great! If need I can share psd files with all my artwork.
That would be nice, Blaze.

I think we should have some common host to share Porteus artwork related instead of releasing scattered links. (Maybe it's done and I'm not aweare) :pardon:

I am absolutely convinced that it will be so. You are all a great team and I hope that Porteus gets the recognition it deserves.

I wish I had some spare time to further artwork/branding contributions :)

Taking one of the sources provided by François, I've got this wallpaper http://wallpaperswide.com/blackwhite_fl ... apers.html, one could apply this http://www.fmwconcepts.com/imagemagick/ ... /index.php effect (given imagemagick package is activated), and get something like this: Image

You can also try to build your logos by changing values to the script like this:

Code: Select all

./texteffect2 -t "Porteus Artix" -e normal -s glow -f Sandoval -p 200 -tf "pattern.png" -gc black -gw 7 -bg none png:- | display png:-
where Sandoval is the font https://www.dafont.com/es/sandoval.font used, and pattern.png is a rectangle snapshot from the source image to keep consistency.

png:- | display png:- >> This part is telling imagemagick to display the resulting image, instead of create the file itself. Once you click in the image displayed, the imagemagick window pops up. Also, you can save the image directly by issuing the proper arguments. (infile and outfile).

Other effects can be applied to logos, so everyone can easily build his own distro wallpaper. Just browse the Fred's Imagemagick scripts page :)

Will come again with more examples if you wish.

Cheers!

Edit: As always, scripts must have +x bit set
