Help me reinstall USM

Post#1 by Videogamer555 » 27 Mar 2021, 10:14

I accidentally lost it (somehow running the builtin updater for USM got it messed up), and now that the corrupt update broke it, I need to reinstall it. I know it must be in the original ISO somewhere, but I don't want to have to completely reinstall Porteus. Where can I find USM.exe (or whatever the main program file is called for the USM package manager)? What folder is it in on the CD? And if it requires root permissions to access the folder it's in, it might be easier to download USM separately from some online repository of the individual programs that normally come on the ISO. Where can I download Setup.exe (or whatever the installer is called) for the USM package manager program?

:%) What do you mean you "lost it"? :%) There is no entry in the Porteus menu for it or the USM command in terminal mode says command not found?

USM has been having difficulties due to the pandemic and some slackware database mirrors not being maintained. For that problem modifying the mirrors being used in /etc/usm can help.

Actually, as a drive-by user of the 5.0rc2 ISOs I cannot find USM either ...
I have no use for it, so I never noticed this.

USM is not included in 5.0rc2.
